THE FOUNDERS CAMPAIGN: BUILDING FOR THE FUTURE
Who We Are
Kol Dorot: A Reform Jewish Community is a new spiritual home, embracing Jewish values and traditions, for the future of progressive Judaism in Northern Bergen County. Our name, Kol Dorot, or "Voice of Generations," represents our heritage, as well as an open and welcoming congregation that meets the needs and expectations of our region's Jewish community today. Our innovative, relational programming currently brings together hundreds of families looking for connection and Jewish meaning in their lives.
Our Future Together
Kol Dorot has a unique opportunity to be our region's home for Reform Jewish people looking to engage more deeply with their faith, traditions, and community. To achieve our goals, Kol Dorot is a dynamic hub, accommodating our community members year-round and centering activities that engage our need for Jewish content and connection.
With the endorsement and backing of our Board and leadership, along with our congregation's support at large, we are embarking on our Founders Campaign.
Consider the Current Situation
However, during this transition period and a global pandemic, it's become clear that Kol Dorot's financial situation requires even more immediate attention. As we build for the future, we must address a current deficit and raise funds to ensure our congregation's survival.
Like many synagogues nationwide, our community is struggling with the effects of COVID-19. Dwindling membership numbers coupled with significant delays in the construction of our new building has taken a dramatic impact on our operating expenses. Congregants have lost their jobs, taken pay cuts, and asked for assistance above and beyond what we have already budgeted. The pandemic has significantly reduced religious school enrollment and, ultimately, revenues.
As we complete the construction of our new home at 660 Kinderkamack Road, simultaneously providing the spiritual leadership, education, and programming expected of a 21st-century congregation, we must raise funds to support our community for years to come. We are confident that with your help, we can raise $1 million to help secure our future.
