THE FOUNDERS CAMPAIGN: BUILDING FOR THE FUTURE
Who We Are
Kol Dorot: A Reform Jewish Community is a new spiritual home, embracing Jewish values and traditions, for the future of progressive Judaism in Northern Bergen County. Our name, Kol Dorot, or "Voice of Generations," represents our heritage, as well as an open and welcoming congregation that meets the needs and expectations of our region's Jewish community today. Our innovative, relational programming currently brings together hundreds of families looking for connection and Jewish meaning in their lives.
Our Future Together
Kol Dorot has a unique opportunity to be our region's home for Reform Jewish people looking to engage more deeply with their faith, traditions, and community. To achieve our goals, Kol Dorot is a dynamic hub, accommodating our community members year-round and centering activities that engage our need for Jewish content and connection.
With the endorsement and backing of our Board and leadership, along with our congregation's support at large, we are embarking on our Founders Campaign.
Consider the Current Situation
However, during this transition period and a global pandemic, it's become clear that Kol Dorot's financial situation requires even more immediate attention. As we build for the future, we must address a current deficit and raise funds to ensure our congregation's survival.
Like many synagogues nationwide, our community is struggling with the effects of COVID-19. Dwindling membership numbers coupled with significant delays in the construction of our new building has taken a dramatic impact on our operating expenses. Congregants have lost their jobs, taken pay cuts, and asked for assistance above and beyond what we have already budgeted. The pandemic has significantly reduced religious school enrollment and, ultimately, revenues.
As we complete the construction of our new home at 660 Kinderkamack Road, simultaneously providing the spiritual leadership, education, and programming expected of a 21st-century congregation, we must raise funds to support our community for years to come. We are confident that with your help, we can raise $1 million to help secure our future.
Giving to Kol Dorot
By supporting the Founders Campaign, you are:
Building a legacy for future generations. We have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to create our Jewish home from the very beginning. Your gift will help secure a shared vision of a community that cherishes our longstanding Jewish culture and traditions and embraces the opportunities and challenges we face today.
Enhancing the essential gateways into life-long learning. Advancing expanded programming for people of all ages, including our Early Learning Center and Religious School, is vital for community building and innovation.
Preparing for our future together. This Campaign will secure dedicated funding for capital improvements and maintenance necessary to keep our facility up-to-date and inviting to members today and going forward.
Investing in the Kol Dorot Community. Your gift will ensure that Kol Dorot can fulfill the needs of our congregational family. We must provide the needed services, support, and faith leadership that our fellow members need.
What Your Gift Will Do
Your tax-deductible donation to the Founders Campaign will:
Support innovative programming and religious education, encompassing a wide range of interests amongst diverse age groups and a broad spectrum of congregants.

Bolster outreach to members celebrating life cycle events
Your Participation is Key
That's why it's so important, now more than ever, to support Kol Dorot and help ensure that when we can all be together physically, we can be confident our future is secure. If you are able, we encourage you to give as generously as you can. No gift is too small; however, for donations above $5,400, we're thrilled to share exclusive naming opportunities for spaces in our new building.
We aspire to 100% participation in the Campaign. We look to you and to the entire Kol Dorot family to make a commitment and pledge financial support for this ambitious effort. Please join Kol Dorot's leaders and your fellow congregants by giving generously. Every gift is appreciated and essential.

HOW TO MAKE YOUR GIFT
Thank you for supporting Kol Dorot's Founders Campaign. There are several ways to make a gift.
To commit, establish a payment term, review payment options, visit our online portal, or contact Vivian Davis, Executive Director, at 201-664-7422 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Kol Dorot can accept cash, a check, or a signed credit card agreement.
You can arrange for ACH payments made directly from your checking account on a pre-determined schedule.
By contributing appreciated securities (stocks or bonds that were purchased over a year ago and have a current value more significant than their original cost), you can receive a tax deduction and eliminate any capital gains assessments on the securities' future sale.
Donors assign the securities to Kol Dorot, which then sells them. The Campaign receives the proceeds of the sale, and the donor benefits through significant tax savings.
IRA Charitable Rollover
If you are 70 ½ or older, you can directly make charitable gifts from your (or your spouse's) IRA or Roth IRA. These are called "Qualified charitable distributions" (QCDs).
A total of up to $100,000 each year can be transferred directly from your IRA and count towards the required annual IRA minimum withdrawal amounts. In addition to being free from federal taxation, there may also be state income tax savings.
We can also accept funds from Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs) and employer matching gifts.
